Editor content
Text entered into the editor is processed in the browser and is not transmitted to GlyphType servers. Locally saved drafts, favorites, recent characters, selected keyboard layouts and interface preferences use browser storage on the visitor’s own device.
This browser storage is used only to provide functions explicitly requested by the visitor. No advertising or analytics identifier is stored. Visitors can remove the data through GlyphType’s controls where available or by clearing site data in their browser.
Library search and local fonts
Library searches run in the browser against catalog files downloaded from GlyphType. Search terms are not submitted to a GlyphType search service. A font selected through the local-font inspector remains in the browser and is not uploaded by the interface.
Explicit sharing
When a visitor explicitly chooses a sharing function, text is passed directly to the selected external application or service, such as WhatsApp or Telegram. GlyphType does not send that text to its own server first. The external service’s own privacy terms apply after it is opened.
Anonymous aggregate action counter
Successful copy actions and activations of the editor’s sharing buttons can send an empty request that increments one cumulative number and updates its timestamp. The application-level record contains no editor text, search term, account, cookie, IP address or application-generated user identifier. It measures actions, not people or unique visitors.
The purpose is to understand whether the public tool is being used at all. The application-level total and its latest timestamp are retained until the counter is reset or discontinued. The legal basis, where personal request metadata is processed by the hosting infrastructure, is the legitimate interest in operating and evaluating the basic usefulness of the free service under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Hosting and server logs
GlyphType is hosted in Germany by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. STRATO provides the hosting infrastructure and processes the necessary request data on behalf of the operator. Delivering a requested page or file technically requires processing data such as the requested resource, time, browser information, referrer and IP address.
STRATO states that IP addresses are retained for attack detection and prevention for no more than seven days. Customer-accessible access logs are anonymized; STRATO currently makes access logs available for up to six weeks and error logs for 24 hours. GlyphType’s application code does not create an additional visitor profile or application-level access log.
This processing is necessary to deliver the site and is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: the legitimate interest in secure, reliable and abuse-resistant operation of the public service.
Contact by email or post
If a person contacts the operator, the information they provide is processed only to handle and answer the request. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, or Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where communication concerns steps requested before an agreement. Correspondence is deleted when it is no longer required, unless legal retention duties or the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims require longer storage.
Cookies, external resources and automated decisions
GlyphType does not set advertising or analytics cookies and does not embed third-party analytics, advertising, social-media pixels or externally hosted fonts. Ordinary links to external sources transfer data to those sites only after the visitor follows the link. GlyphType does not perform automated decision-making or profiling.
Your rights
Subject to the applicable legal requirements, data subjects may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and may object to processing based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. They may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
The supervisory authority responsible for the operator’s location is:
